Hi, I’m Marin. I’m a software engineer from Croatia and the person who builds and maintains OnlineFreeSolitaire.com.
I created the site to make classic solitaire games fast and straightforward to play while treating the underlying game logic seriously. I work on the game implementations, interface, deal generation, testing, and technical content published here.
My background
I have been interested in algorithms and programming since high school. I represented Croatia at the International Olympiad in Informatics in 2016 and later competed for the University of Zagreb in the ICPC. Our team placed sixth at the 2019 Central Europe Regional Contest and qualified for the World Finals; the official ICPC World Finals brochure lists me on the University of Zagreb team.
I also competed for many years on Codeforces as mkisic, reaching the Master rating level with a maximum rating of 2260. Today I work professionally as a software engineer.
How that relates to this site
OnlineFreeSolitaire.com is an independent project, not a game assembled from an off-the-shelf embed. Building it involves many of the same skills as algorithmic problem solving: translating rules into precise behavior, keeping state deterministic, testing edge cases, and making technical claims reproducible.
The game logic is tested against the rules described on the site. Numbered deals can be recreated exactly. Verified-winnable Klondike deals use a separate, testable construction and include a complete 52-card solution certificate that can be inspected in the Solitaire Deal Lab.
When I publish technical articles about algorithms, game rules, or the implementation of solitaire, they come from the same work involved in building and maintaining the games.
